Birdsmouth matches its long experience with a willingness to try new approaches as better technologies and practices become available. In our case, one example of this was the use of a wood slab to minimize concrete and the associated carbon emissions while also making the flooring more comfortable.
 The Birdsmouth team were great communicators, giving us good transparency on approaching decision points and next steps throughout the design and construction process. We’re thrilled with the resulting ADU—good looking, high performance, and built to last.

Honestly, I brought Birdsmouth a mess of a project - an ADU that had started as an idea several years ago that was then a design in process ever since. Way too many cooks in the kitchen!  It was unreasonable and not something I could afford to build. Working as a true partner, they reformatted and redesigned and gave me an elegant 800 square-foot building that anyone would be proud to live in, and on a budget that made sense for me.  I am delighted with the end result - I have to say the process was part of why I would work with them again: collaborative, thoughtful, multiple solutions to every issue, and extremely creative in the (to me) boring parts of infrastructure and energy efficiency.  (And, by the way?  the parts that bore you are the ones that can eat you alive financially.)   They stayed on schedule, within budget, and the communication with the project manager and rest of the team was excellent.  I look forward to STARTING a project with them next time.

Over a six-month period, the crew showed up on time every day, worked hard, communicated well, and ensured we were satisfied with their work. Our neighbors still talk about how friendly they were, and while we don't miss the construction, we miss the crew. Our house looks incredible, and I can sleep at night knowing the water is outside.

Birdsmouth is a professional, responsible, friendly, responsive, and thorough company. We worked with the wonderful, owner  Josh and a stellar architect/project manager Jonathan to remodel our kitchen and make some other improvements to our home during summer/fall 2016. We could not have asked for a better team. They worked well with our architect, our budget, our timeline, our complicated family constraints (a pregnancy and early birth!), and our expectations. We were impressed with the crews that they brought into the house, who were courteous, responsive, thorough, and *very* tidy. We were also impressed with their communication - they made themselves available for in-person meetings, phone meetings, and lots of email communication. They were up front and honest about costs, implications of choosing different materials and fixtures, and the reality of the construction process. They were patient with us (we know nothing about construction and are fussy about details). The individuals we worked with have a great sense of humor and a real eye and passion for eco-friendly construction. They were ON TIME AND ON BUDGET. And the work that they did has held up amazingly well. It's now been a year and we really love the kitchen they built us and the craftsmanship that went along with it. Can't say enough good about these guys and recommend them highly.

Some contractors just know construction, however, Josh has a great design sense as well, and his quality craftsmanship is what sold us.
